This morning I was away for a Regina Public School Board orientation session. From what I hear the class had a lot of fun with the substitute teacher that was in 🙂

Morning Routine

Math – The students worked on centres.

Recess

Daily 5 – The students practiced Read to Someone with their new library books. For Work on Writing, the students wrote in their journals.

Lunch

Phys. Ed. – Ms. Bechard

Music – Mrs. Machnaik

PWIM – We finished shaking out our list of words, and as a class considered some of the different categories we could put our words into.

Author Study – We read “Knuffle Bunny Too” by Mo Willems. We talked about how we need to read both the words AND the pictures to make sure that we are not missing any information in a book.

Morning Routine

Math – We learned two new math centres, Fill in the Blanks and an app called Pop Math. After math centres, the students worked on a patterning task.

Recess

Daily 5 – We went to the library as a class to learn the routine of finding and signing out books. Usually, small groups of students will go to the library independently to sign out books during our Daily 5 rotations.

Lunch

Phys. Ed. – We worked on underhand throwing skills and catching skills during some partner activities.

Social – We continued to work on our “Who meets our needs?” books. The students wrote about people our community who have jobs that help us meet our basic needs such as food, water, shelter, etc.
