Morning Routine

Math – We continued to work on choosing and measuring with nonstandard units of measurement.

Recess

Daily 5 – Hi-5 Groups – I read with Niki, Annalise, Erik, Kellan, Parker, Ava, and Grayson.

Lunch

Talking Circles – We shared personal stories focusing on sharing the beginning, middle, and end of the story.

Science – The students finished their collages classifying solids/liquids.

Morning Routine

Math – The students measured some challenging lengths – zigzag lines, spiral lines, around the carpet, around a curve, etc using strings and cube-a-links. They had to be creative problem solvers as they were not given instructions on how to complete their measuring tasks. They did amazing! So many inventive methods were used as there were not enough blocks to cover the whole distance!

Daily 5 – We learned a new CAFE fluency strategy, and practiced reading with expression. We finished off our literacy period by continuing to work on our Spring poems.

Math – We did one more rotation of the measurement activity the students were working on this morning as the tape had to be removed from the floor by the end of the day. They showed even more proficiency and understanding this afternoon which was great to see!

Science – We started our new unit, Solids and Liquids. In groups, the students created giant collages of different solids and liquids.
