Morning Routine

Math – We continued to work on addition with 2-digit numbers. Today we looked at how to “make a new group on top” (the traditional algorithm for addition of 2+ digit number addition).

Recess

Daily 5 – We did two Hi-5 Group rotations. I read with Maggie and Parker.

Lunch

Talking Circle – We considered if we think we eat too many sugary snacks.

Health – We looked at nutrition labels and measured out how much processed sugar is in some of our favorite snacks and treats. In partners students looked at books from the library about making healthy choices. The students shared with the class one thing that they learned.

Recess

Arts Ed. – Mme. Jasper

**Just a reminder to everyone that we are going skating tomorrow at the Al Ritchie Arena from 10-11. Please make sure that you send your child with skates, a helmet, and proper winter attire. Sticks are allowed for those that have them – however, only plastic pucks are allowed to be used. We will be getting picked up from the school at 9:45 and will arrive by 10:00 provided that buses are running (fingers crossed!). If buses are not running (-40 or colder with the windchill), than unfortunately our trip will be cancelled and we will do a fun activity in the classroom instead. For those parents who indicated that they were able/interested in coming, thank you! Please meet us at the arena around 10:00 to help with putting skates on. Feel free to email me if you have any questions and I will get back to you this evening!

***Children who have indicated that they will not be coming skating with us will be placed in another classroom for the hour that we are gone.
